Belize
is a fishing paradise with many fishing lodges and fishing
resorts concentrating on providing an unforgettable time.
Spinning, flyfishing and trolling
can be experienced year round, and the abundance of game fish
as well as the numerous locations guarantee excellent sport.
All
along Belize´s coast, numerous fishing opportunities abound,
plentiful with such fish as barracuda, snapper and jacks.
Punta Icacos Lagoon in Toledo and Rocky Point
of Ambergris Caye, are of particular note.
The estuaries, inlets and mouths to several rivers offer
catches of huge tarpon, snook and jacks,
while lagoons are known for bonefish, permit
and barracuda.
Grouper, snapper, barracuda and
jacks thrive in coral reefs, while the deeper waters support
sailfish, marlin, pompano and bonito.
Fishing
in Belize also can offer a good opportunity to see local wildlife.
It is not
uncommon during a river trip to see monkeys, iguanas and crocodiles
as well as beautiful orchids and bromeliads.
There
are several fishing lodges that specialize in salt-water
fishing, particularly in Ambergris
Caye, the
Turneffe Islands,
Glover's Reef, and
South Water Caye.
Fishing can also be done from
Belize City, for both river and coastal fishing.
Individual guide services are also available on Ambergris
Caye, Placencia and Caye Caulker. |
