Carlos Popper, Belizean born, commenced his Five Sisters Lodge in 1991. His dream was to create an eco-tourism facility that he could share with the rest of the world. Inspired by the natural beauty of his property, he set of to design his lodge with one clear objective: to provide sustainable architecture in harmony with the natural world that surrounds us.
Since Five Sisters Falls & Eco-lodge opened in 1995, it has been a popular escape for ecotourists and nature lovers. Being situated on ten acres of privately titled land in the midst of the national reserve, you can truly get away from it all here. The lodge is ideal for anyone interested in exploring the region, including Caracol, Belize's largest Maya ruin, only a 1-1/2 hour drive from the lodge. You will also enjoy lounging in your hammock, or sitting on the deck enjoying the view. The outgoing and efficient staff works well under the guidance of William Chun, the pleasant, amiable manager. William will see to all your needs, and ensure that your accommodation is comfortable.
The sparkling, clear water of the river, the shimmering spray of the falls and the contrasting green of the forest are accentuated by a wild display of colorful flowers of over four hundred and fifty species of orchids, palmettos and other exotic plants. The continuous flowering of these plants throughout the year produces nature's own kaleidoscope of brilliant colours and the crisp air is always heavy with a fragrant, exciting aroma.
"The Five Sisters Lodge obtained its name from the five perfectly gushing waterfalls and the numerous crystal pools that form part of this natural wonder. These waterfalls empty into the famous Privassion River, which meanders through the heart of the Forest Reserve. Set amidst the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest, the 14 cabanas and 4 rooms provide guests the perfect property in which to discover the natural wonders of the Cayo District.
Each cabin is equipped with hot and cold water, private bath and balcony, hammocks and mosquito netting.
Our Mayan styled cabanas are sprinkled on the property among 5 acres of tropical garden and overlooking the waterfalls. These have been carefully designed using local hardwoods, pimento sticks, traditional bay leaf thatched roofs and richly varnish wooden interiors. Rooms with shared bath (economy-rooms), regular private cabanas, luxury private cabanas, including honeymoon units and family luxury or regular cabanas. Each of our cabanas is equipped with private bathrooms (hot/cold), private screened porches, hammocks, and mosquito netting on beds, ceiling fans and additional kerosene lamps to provide you with maximum comfort and relaxation.
The lodge is powered by a mini-hydroelectric plant that provides electricity on a 24hour basis. Our staff, 100% Belizeans, had been trained to provide you with the best service and to make your stay with us a memorable experience.
Our facility offers full restaurant and bar services. High above the Falls, guests can enjoy dining at a full service bar and restaurant, serving mouthwatering Belizean and International cuisine. The Lodge also provides a stargazing deck, and gift shop."
Activities:
The lodge offers tours to many natural attractions and archaeological sites, (including Tikal, Guatemala), horseback riding, jungle tours and our own medicinal trails, natural swimming pools with bar service on our beautiful Island, "The Garden Of Eden".
